Hauni SIROX Expansion Machine Spare Parts
The Hauni SIROX (Saturated Steam Expansion) system is used to expand cut tobacco by injecting high-pressure saturated steam. It is a key component in modern tobacco processing lines, positioned after the dryer and before casing drums.
Machine Overview
- Function: Expands cut tobacco cell structure using high-pressure steam (5-8 bar, 160-180°C)
- Capacity: 1,000-4,000 kg/h depending on configuration
- Process: Tobacco enters rotary steam seal → rapid pressure release expands cells → flash drying stabilizes expanded product
Key Wear Components
1. Steam Injection System
- Steam injection nozzles: Precision orifices that direct steam into tobacco flow. Nozzle erosion from thermal cycling causes uneven expansion. Replace at 6-12 month intervals.
- Rotary steam seals: Maintain pressure differential between drum sections. Seal ring wear causes steam loss and reduced expansion efficiency. Inspect monthly.
2. Expansion Drum
- Drum liner: Stainless steel wear surface. Tobacco abrasion causes thinning over 3-5 years.
- Lifting flights: Modified design vs HXD — shorter flights for faster material turnover. Replace at 18-24 months.
- End seals: Graphite composite seals at inlet and outlet. Annual replacement recommended.
3. Pressure Control
- Pressure relief valves: Calibrated safety components. Test quarterly, rebuild every 2 years.
- Steam control valves: Precise flow regulation. Valve seat wear causes drift. Rebuild annually.
- Temperature sensors: Platinum RTD sensors. Calibrate monthly, replace if drift exceeds ±1°C.
4. Material Handling
- Infeed rotary valve: Metering and sealing. Blade edge wear causes backflow.
- Discharge system: Flash dryer outlet, cyclone separator.
SIROX vs HXD: Parts Comparison
While both are drum-type machines, SIROX and HXD parts are largely not interchangeable. SIROX operates at higher pressure and lower temperature, requiring different seal materials and flight geometry. Only basic items like drive chains and some bearing assemblies are shared.
